Membership FAQ

How do I become a Commercial Drone Pilot?

To fly drones commercially in the UK you need to obtain a Permission for Commercial Operations or PfCO. Uplift Drones provides industry-leading training courses to enable organisations and individuals to become commercial drone pilots. We have three PfCO courses depending on your prior experience; Pilot’s PfCO (1 day), Fast Track PfCO (2.5 days) and Advanced PfCO (3.5 days). All of these courses include the cost of your Flight Test.

What is involved in obtaining a Permission for Commercial Operations?

You have to complete 3 parts of the PfCO process. These include a Ground School that ends with a Theory Exam, producing an Operations Manual (Volumes 1+2) and passing a practical Flight Test. Uplift Drones’ training team will help you every step of the way and provides lifetime support, long after your course has been completed.

I’m interested in Drone Mapping. Do you offer any training for this?

We teach a 2-day introduction to drone mapping course that allows you to formulate a strong understanding around the core functions within Pix4D photogrammetry software. The Drone Mapping course is aimed at professionals who will benefit from the use of a photogrammetry capability, whilst typically deploying UAVs for their day-to-day survey works. No prior experience is required.
